Directory · servicing and repairs

Watermaker servicing and repairs in Australia.

Annual service, membrane cleaning, pump rebuilds and the diagnosis when output falls. These businesses work on systems rather than only selling them.

Where two or more local businesses do this work, there is a page for that region.

What servicing and repairs involves

The annual service

Prefilters, pump oil where fitted, high-pressure seals and valves, and a pressure and TDS check under load. On most systems this is an hour or two of labour plus consumables.

Cleaning before replacing

A membrane that has lost output is usually fouled rather than finished. An alkaline then acid clean recovers most of them. A technician who reaches for a new membrane first is expensive company.

Pump work

High-pressure pumps are rebuildable — seals, valves and sometimes pistons — at a fraction of replacement. Ask whether a rebuild kit for your model is stocked in Australia before you accept a replacement quote.

Layup and recommissioning

Pickling for anything over a few weeks unused, and a proper flush and test on the way back in. Most dead membranes in this country died sitting still, not running.

What to ask before you book

  1. Do you come to the boat, or does the unit come to you?Mobile service saves an unstepping-and-hauling exercise but costs a call-out. Both are fine; knowing which you are buying is not optional.
  2. What is the call-out, the hourly rate, and is travel time charged? In regional areas travel can exceed the labour. Ask before booking, not after.
  3. Do you carry seals, valves and prefilters for my brand?A technician without parts turns one visit into two, plus freight and a second call-out.
  4. Will you record pressure and TDS before and after the work?It is the only proof the service achieved anything, and it builds the history that tells you when the membrane is genuinely done.

Common questions

How many Australian businesses handle watermaker servicing and repairs?
15 of the 38 verified providers in our directory list servicing and repairs among their services, across 5 states (New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia). That is what each business claims in its own listing; confirm scope and availability when you call.
What does watermaker servicing and repairs cost?
We do not publish prices for it, because they turn on the boat, the brand and the travel involved, and a made-up range would be worse than none. The four questions above are what turn a vague number into a comparable quote — ask them of two providers and the difference will be obvious.
Is there someone near me?
7 cruising regions have two or more local providers doing this work: Gold Coast, Brisbane and Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Whitsundays, Sydney and Pittwater, Perth and Fremantle, Regional Western Australia. Outside those, look at the state pages — several businesses travel, and a few supply Australia-wide.

Before you call anyone

How this list is built. A business appears here when its own directory listing, its category, or the note recorded when we verified it names this work. Nothing is inferred from business type: a dealer is not assumed to install, and an engineering firm is not assumed to know watermakers. Where a listing is silent, the business is absent from this page even if it does the work — ask them. Regional pages exist only on the Gold Coast and elsewhere that two or more local providers claim it.
