boatwatermaker.com.au exists because the spec that decides whether a watermaker suits your boat is not on any brochure, and the people who could tell you are the people selling it.
How Wh/L is calculated
Rated electrical draw in watts divided by rated output in litres per hour. Where the manufacturer publishes an output range, we use the midpoint. Petrol systems have no electrical figure; we quote fuel burn instead. We do not adjust for water temperature or salinity, so treat every figure as a like-for-like rating, not a promise for your anchorage.
Where prices come from
Rainman prices are the manufacturer's published list. Schenker and Spectra prices are converted from European and US dealer listings and shown as an indicative band. A price is only marked confirmed once an Australian dealer has quoted it in AUD, landed. Until then, expect the real number to read higher.
What we flag rather than guess
If a wattage is not published, the row says so. We do not estimate it. Two systems in the current table carry an unconfirmed-spec flag for exactly this reason.
Where a brand is missing entirely
Ranking a system needs a published output and a published draw at a stated voltage, from one citable page. Several brands with verified Australian dealers do not publish both, so they are absent from the ranking and have a page that says exactly what is missing. A current figure without a voltage is not a wattage, and multiplying it by an assumed one would be inventing data. We would rather have a gap than a number nobody can check.
How the site is paid for
We do not sell watermakers and no brand pays for placement. When you request a quote, we pass it to an Australian dealer and may receive a referral fee. That fee never changes a row in the table and is disclosed on the quote form.
Spotted an error?
Manufacturers change specs quietly. If a figure is wrong, send the source and we will fix the row and credit you.
